Abstract

With the progress and application of information technology in agriculture, agritech has been increasingly gaining attentions worldwide. Agricultural productivity continues to grow with the help of technological advancement and innovations undertaken in the agri field. Agritech is the use of technology in agriculture, horticulture, and aquaculture with the aim of improving yield, efficiency, and profitability.

In the country like India, the use of information and communication technology is in an ascent stage to help the farmers in taking right decisions at right time to carry out their farm operations effectively. It also aims to provides technical services in agriculture and allied sectors, weather information, market information, global information regarding agriculture, state and central agricultural schemes formed for the welfare of the farmers.

This paper is a conceptual study based on secondary data. This paper attempts to highlight the importance of technology in improving various agricultural activities in Indian economy. This paper also discusses the technological applications in agriculture, latest agricultural technological innovations and various initiatives taken by ministries for the welfare on commercializing Indian agriculture
