Abstract

The legend poet of India, Rabindranath Tagore possessed rich cultural and religious heritage of India and western progressive and logical religious idea. He earned a unique position in the world by his devotion to God and deep love for life. God has an invisible presence in both Indian and Western literature. But the different cultures have different concepts and traditions. This paper describes Tagore’s perception of God in classical and romantic beliefs and tries to set his God in comparison to the Western poets God.
