Abstract

Due to Industrialization the tribal people and other vulnerable section of the population have been displaced from their traditional livelihood and their self sustaining subsistence system of production (Guha and Abhijit, 2006). It is the part of a wider modernization process, where the social and economic developments are closely related with technical innovation. Spread of industrialization (Ota A.B., 2010) and fast conversion to Christianity has brought all along the method of reduction in the culture and traditions of these Tribal people (Heredia and Rudolf C., 1995). Over the years, churches in Bacheli have been sending their cross-cultural missionaries without pre-field missionary training. This is the transition period of the world and the prominent factors i.e. Industrialization and Christianity are playing vital role among Tribals areas as well as Tribals. These two factor leading to the cultural transition. To assess the present situation of aculturisation among migrated Munda Tribe in Industrial area, researcher had selected tribal village of Bacheli, Dantewada, South Bastar (Cg.). For collecting the data, Researcher used both primary and secondary sources. Primary data was collected by interviewing people of both rural and semi-urban household and secondary data were collected from related articles from journals, government gazettes and published reports. The Key findings of the empirical study on the Impact of Development on the Socio-Economic and cultural condition of the tribal families in NMDC clearly reveal that the vast majority of them live a life of penury and hardship in the past period. Development projects have made the life of the oustees in general and tribal migrated families in particular more miserable and they have impoverished and languishing in poverty.

This paper is an effort which depicts both negative and positive parts of the cultural transition. Thus, we examine the hypothesis that the beliefs and cultures of these indigenous people acquire a historicity of its own, which we should learn to respect and understand.
