Abstract
Effect of wild animals was studied in the Nagpur district of Maharashtra. Three villages namely Khedi, Mannath and Gowar Gondi were selected randomly with sample of 60 farmers. Data were collected through personal interview method. Analysis of data revealed that majority of the respondents (46.66%) belonged to middle category (51-67), having 4-6 members in family, male (83.33%) and all of them were married, possessed 1.25 – 6.25 acre of land, 85.0 percent respondents were having 2.0 acre irrigated land and 61.66 percent were having 2.0 acre cultivated land respectively. Village Khedi had maximum respondents (25) having uncultivated land ranging from 1 to 16 acre. The menace of blue bull was faced by majority of the respondents (70%) whereas more than 18 per cent of the respondents had problem of both blue bulls and boars. Majority of the respondents were guarding their fields during night to save crops from wild animals. Twelve respondents had received compensation from government ranged from Rs. 1000 to Rs. 3200. A total of 32 respondents had availed loan from different sources, amount of which was still pending and most of the respondents (10%) were having pending loan to the tune of Rs. 50000.
