Abstract
The study was carried out in Akola district of Vidarbha region of Maharashtra state. The study was conducted in two tehsils of Akola district and five villages were selected from each tehsil. The data was collected from12 rural youth from each selected village, thus the sample of 120 rural youth was drawn and information from each rural youth were collected with the help of structured and pretested interview schedule. The ex-post fact research design of social research was used. The findings revealed that the majority (84.17%) of the rural youth had medium to high extent of participation. In case of relational analysis variables such as family size, family annual income, land holding, source of information, mass media exposure, attitude towards agriculture found the positively significant with extent of participation at 0.01 level of probability. The variables education, family type, farming experience, innovativeness and scientific orientation were found positively significant with extent of participation at 0.05 level of probability. The variables marital status and social participation shown non-significant relationship with extent of participation.
