Abstract
A study was conducted to assess the level of involvement of rural men and women in performance of tasks related to agriculture and livestock farming for effective implementation of development programmes. Data were collected from the 200 households of marginal farmers and landless livestock farmers belonging to Thiruvannamalai and pudukottai districts of Tamil Nadu. The study revealed that there exists definite division of labour in performance of activities related to agriculture and livestock farming among the households of marginal and landless livestock farmers and women is the key player in livestock farming. The role of women needs be strengthened while organizing training programmes for women to increase their efficiency in livestock production.
