Abstract
Nutrition is the most important thing in empowering women population in the society. They have a prominent place in all fronts, regardless on the discrimination set against them. Especially, mothers play an important role in upbringing the young ones as they are the first to interact or to seek guidance for the welfare and betterment of their living. Good nutrition and balanced eating pattern would help an individual to reduce the risk of chronic illness or deficiency diseases. Proper nutrition provides adequate number of calories to maintain health and well- being. As per the reports, it is observed that the intake of food and dietary choices made by most of the women are not very accurate or inconsistent irrespective of the region or town. Factors affecting health status need to be more focused with varied ecological perspectives and conceptual model. The current challenge of the community is to understand the importance of nutrition and dietary guidelines. Since 2018, Women’s eating plan/nutritional program has been given great significance. UNICEF has supported the health and family welfare in eradicating anemia (causes weakness) and malnutrition (lack of nutritious food) in India or to make India as “Anemia free” country. In 21st century, women are referred as important stake holders of holistic development in the community. In this paper, efforts are put to understand different sources and program to strengthen women population via by providing food for thought and better health. Women’s empowerment is the new term mostly used in gender studies/literature.
