Abstract
Krishi Vigyan Kendras play an important role in not only introducing new technologies to farmers but also in providing required support through skill development and capacity building. It helps to generate employment for number of people within their own social system. Rural women possess abundant resources to take up enterprises. Entrepreneurship is the only solution to the growing unemployment among rural masses. Apparel designing is one of the such avenues for self employment which requires moderate financial needs. Keeping in mind the present study was conducted in Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Fatehabad of Haryana. Ninety respondents (30 each) were selected randomly from various villages of Fatehabad district for three vocational trainings on Apparel Designing and Construction. Five days vocational training on each subject namely garment construction and soft toy making, value addition of fabric through tie and dye and fabric embellishment were organized. Learning index was calculated in terms on utility and coverage of subject matter and sample preparation by each participant. Training Effectiveness Index (TEI) was found highest for garment construction training (82.77%) followed by training on fabric embellishment (77.29%) and value addition of fabric through tie and dye technique (76.21%), respectively. Impact was assessed in terms of knowledge gain, attitude change and skill acquisition of each trainee which was found highest for fabric embellishment (69.62%) followed by value addition of fabric through tie and dye (66.29%) and garment construction (56.54%), respectively. Learning index and impact assessment showed fairly good learning experiences from all vocational trainings on apparel designing and construction at KVK campus.
