Abstract
The study was conducted in the three districts namely Prakasam, Chitoor and Nalgonda of Andhra Pradesh. Ex post facto research design was followed in the investigation. The study revealed that majority of women sarpanch were young aged, belonged to other castes, possessing high and middle school education, marginal farmers with farming as major occupation, had annual income in the range of Rs75,000 – Rs1,00,000 and owned concrete houses. While, vast majority were married, with medium family size. Majority of the respondents had medium information seeking behaviour and mass media exposure.
