Abstract

The purpose of the present study is to assess the extent of awareness of beneficiaries on Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) in Anand district. To achieve the purpose of the study, 284 beneficiaries were randomly selected from sample population. A standardized scale was prepared by calculating the validity and reliability of the statements.The reliability, difficulty index and discrimination index of the statements were analysed 284beneficiaries to standardized the scale.The whole scale was divided into three sub-groups of the extent of awareness of beneficiaries on Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA).The appropriate statistical analysis was carried andthe results of the study indicate that the beneficiaries have high level of awareness on job card related information.Looking at the general level of awareness among the respondents in Anand District, we found that more than half of the respondents had a Moderate levelawareness about working terms & condition and wages & supervision while 52% of the beneficiaries have a high level awareness on job card related information.In addition, the beneficiaries who have 5-10 years of working experience in MGNREGs have more awareness on MGNREGA than others.
