Abstract
The productivity of oilseed crop Toria in the Udalguri district is low (3.80 q/ha) as farmers are growing these crops in marginal area and due to non-adoption of improved package of practices, therefore, efforts have been made through Front Line Demonstrations to introduce new high yielding varieties of these crops to demonstrate improved production technologies to increase productivity of oilseed crops in the district. The study was mainly based on primary data. Among twelve development blocks in the district, two blocks viz., Udalguri and Rowta development blocks are purposively selected and three villages from each blocks were taken on the basis of large numbers of Front Line Demonstration conducted. Total 120 respondents were selected from six villages. The study is designed to analyse impact of Front Line Demonstration conducted by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Udalguri on socio economic condition and adoption pattern of beneficiaries and non beneficiaries of the district. The study reveals that by conducting front line demonstrations of proven technologies, yield potential and net income from oilseed cultivation can be enhanced to a great extent with increase in the income level of the stakeholders. After conducting Front Line Demonstration, the highest adoption was found in selection of varieties and disease management as production of crop depends on the qualities of seed and pest and disease control.
