Abstract

It is disturbing to note that youth are losing interest and confidence in agriculture and allied activities; hence, they are not willingly involved in agricultural operations. The results reflected that among 11 independent variables, caste, social participation, land holding, annual income, extension contact, economic motivation, risk orientation and scientific orientation were found to have positive and significant correlation with attitude of rural youth towards agriculture as an occupation. Multiple regression analysis showed that only 3 variables viz. extension contact, scientific orientation and risk orientation exerted influence on attitude level of rural youth towards agriculture as an occupation which was to the tune of 72.50 per cent when all the three variables were taken together.
