Abstract
Himachal Pradesh, known for its picturesque landscapes and rich cultural heritage, is also home to a diverse array of tribal communities. These communities, constituting a significant portion of the state’s population, face unique socio-economic challenges despite their rich cultural heritage and contributions to the region’s diversity. This paper explores the current status of tribal communities in Himachal Pradesh, examining historical contexts, socio economic conditions, cultural preservation efforts, and government policies. It also highlights contemporary challenges such as education, healthcare, and economic opportunities, and proposes potential pathways for the empowerment and sustainable development of these communities.
