Abstract

Value Addition – Adding Value – Process of changing or transforming a product from its original state to more valuable state. Value added describes what happens when you take a basic product and increase the value of that product by addition of some nutrient or product in the manufacturing process. Food Preservation is method to prevent foods spoilage, food poisoning, and microbial contamination in food. Food preservation is one of the methods to protect food from unwanted microbial growth. Value addition takes place when , there has been change in physical state or form, a product that has been subject to additional actions or combined with extra products to raise the overall value of the product. Food Fortification, enrichment, preservation etc. are the methods which should be used in order to promote the value addition of food products in the food processing industries. Since, in today’s jet age lifestyle, we not only need food products which are sustainably produced but these products which have a high nutrient value, focusing on value addition of food products is the need of the hour.
