Abstract
The present study was conducted to understand the profile characteristics of undergraduate students of TANUVAS, Chennai, India. The sample size for the study consisted of 300 final year students pursuing B.V.Sc. & A.H and B. Tech. courses at the six constituent colleges of TANUVAS. The data were collected personally through a well-structured and pre-tested questionnaire. The study revealed that majority of the students were in the age group of 21-22 years with majority of the students being male and hailing from rural background. Majority of the students belonged to Backward Caste (BC) and had nuclear family with up to 5 members. The students had relatively good academic performances and had medium level of information seeking behaviour, self-confidence, achievement motivation and economic motivation.
